WORKSHOPS SUBJECTS:

Workshop no 1: « Contemporary oriental »

Egyptian style choreography. Emerse yourself in this delicious music with flowing floor patterns, articulate hip work and an emphasis on instrumentation.
Learn how to translate different rhythms not just through movement, but also through emotional expression.

Workshop no 2: « Juicy pop song »

This Arabic song is full of juicy bits and broad dynamics. Combine useful combinations and funky floor patterns with personal expression.
From dramatic accents to slow and smooth moves this choreography will enhance your range of motion and emotion in dance.

Workshop no 3: « Funky Saidii »

With or without a stick this earthy dance is fun and funky. With emphasis on folkloric stylization and capturing the cultural essence of a people. Experience « Saidii », a rich and earthy dance with lots of juicy hip movements and heavy beats. (Please bring a stick).

Workshop no 4: « Percussive precision »

Move your hips with intricate precision and embody the spirit of Arabic rhythms. Learn the techniques and drill the combinations to create an exciting and powerful drum solo.

DRUMMERS AND DANCERS please join us. PURE is a performance art group that spreads awareness for causes we believe in and brings our art form out into the world guerilla style. www.puredance.org

We cross many dance forms and are affiliated with no particular studio....this is an amazing opportunity for us all to join in a unified dance and help our world/community.

Our first meeting of the year will be on March 1 at the Hurst Recreation Center from 8-9pm. All subsequent meetings will be held on the 1st Thursday of the month as well. Please bring $3 to cover room rental and administrative paperwork (making copies).

In July, we will perform in the annual anniversary of PURE's first procession in NYC. All PURE chapters across the world perform on the same day to celebrate the anniversary. We will also be dancing at Kismet this year.

This group is democratic. Brandy and I are your facilitators, but we are here to help you and the group flourish. It's everyone's group and all ideas and input are welcome. At this meeting, we will

- Pick charities, events, or causes to spread awareness
- DANCE and DRUM!

If you have someone who doesn't wish to perform but would like to help, we also have assistant positions. These wonderful people join us at our procession and help us in many ways.

Ethnic Fusion Belly Dance Workshop No. 4 - Sword

Sa'diyya will be explaining Ethnic Fusion theory - her own methods and guidelines for fusing Middle Eastern Dance, as well as teaching a DRAMATIC sword dance to the music "Immortal Egypt" by Hosam Ramzy. This workshop is appropriate for dancers new to sword dancing and professionals alike. Bring a sword or cane to balance on your head and knee pads! (Some movements will involve going down to the floor - if students aren't able to descend to the floor due to knee problems, etc, Sa'diyya will give alternative, equally impressive, movements the student can use instead.) Saidi Fusion Belly Dance Workshop

Monday and Tuesday Night Combinations and Technique Classes!!!

Hello Everyone!
Starting in March, I will be offering Monday and Tuesday evening advanced classes for belly dancers who are looking to add more to their repertoire, improve on technique, or to simply have some fun and stay active with an extra belly dance class. This class is open to everyone! You can sign up for the whole month ($50), or take the class on a walk-in basis ($15). The subject matter will be the same on both Mondays and Tuesdays, so you can choose one or the other. In the past we have focused on drum solo technique and ideas, shimmy layering drills, khaleegi, zar, saidi, raks sharqi choreographies and much, much more! I take suggestions, so send me your feedback if you have a class subject you'd like to be covered! For March, I will be covering how to do improvisational dancing (also a suggestion from a fellow dancer!)
To register for the class (by the month or on a walk-in basis), please call 214.387.0738.
The classes are located in Frisco. I will give you directions when you call for registration.

Ethnic Fusion Belly Dance is a fun, artistic, thoughtful fusion dance class that is similar to American Tribal Style Belly Dance, except that there is more of an emphasis on authentic, folkloric dances and costuming. Usually, there is a story to be told in the dance performances. This is where the “fusion” comes in because Sa'diyya will take an authentic, folkloric dance and costume, then add elements of other dance forms to convey the story.

"Zar and Veil Fusion"

Sa'diyya will be explaining Ethnic Fusion theory - her own methods and guidelines for fusing Middle Eastern Dance, as well as teaching a brand new choreography that fuses the North African trance dance, Zar, with the use of the fluid prop, the veil. Web Site for Dancers

Ok, this is just at the "kicking it around" stage, but some dancers have suggested to me that a web site for hiring D/FW bellydancers/troupes for events is something our community needs/desires. I used to be a web site designer, so I think I could handle this project. I haven't considered the yearly/monthly fee (which would be nominal, of course). The site would basically be a database of dancers/ troupes in the community available for special events. Each dancer/ troupe would have the following posted about her/it:
1. pic(s)
2. bio
3. contact info
4. availability
5. pricing (if you want this published. If not, the interested party would have to contact you).
6. web site ( if applicable)
Is anyone interested in this kind of thing?
